This is Canadian Basia Bulat's fourth show for us and we're very excited to have her back. We followed her for a good while before getting a show. In one of our favourite venues too. Basia seemed destined to make great music. By the age of three she was playing piano and her childhood was spent accompanied by her brother on drums, this perhaps explains the distinct sense of play that suffuses all of her work. Her hooks and handclaps create a soundtrack that's perfect for mischief, live performances often ending with half of the audience on stage and joining in. As Basia herself has said, her music isn't about songs you can sing along to, it's about songs you want to sing along to.

Paul began writing and performing shows with his current band, ?The Considerate Lovers? in 2002. A year later Paul toured Europe and the UK with US Folk Singer Sufjan Stevens, and on one occasion after completing a tour with Stevens, Paul had the opportunity to gig with a string quartet. Excited by this prospect, but with no musical notation available, Paul scored his considerate Lovers set entirely for strings over the course of a week, and the first performance was the first time that either Paul or the audience were able to hear these new arrangements. ?The space was beautiful and your set was beautiful? it was a real pleasure? ? Sufjan Stevens. This experience reaffirmed his passion for composing and has had a profound effect on his career to date.
